FAQs
I have oily skin, prone to pimples and acne. What products do I use?
People with oily skin prone to pimples and acne should deep cleanse with the Lime Cleanser.
Use only oil free products like The Tone Enhancer Gold & Saffron Gel/ Aqua Power Rehydrating Gel/ Anti-Ageing Hyaluronic Acid Gel (the hyaluronic acid products are anti ageing products for those who are 30+), no creams or oil based products not ever cream based sunscreens. Moisturising gels work best to keep your skin moisturised and hydrated. Use the Gold & Saffron face scrub and face pack twice a week. Make sure your scalp is free of dandruff which will only increase outbreaks of pimples. The dandruff falls onto your oily skin on your face, shoulders, chest and back and you break out in pimples that get affected and eventually acne.
I have strong pigmentation along the sides of both cheeks and it’s spreading under my eyes too. What should I do?
If you are colouring your hair with chemical based hair colourants this could be a reaction to the Para-Phenylenediamine (PPD) in your hair colour. You need to stop using chemical based hair colour and shift to the 100% natural henna indigo hair colour.
Hyperpigmentation is a condition that causes your skin to darken. This can affect and appear as patches on your face, neck, back, arms and legs.
There are many reasons that causes skin pigmentation
* PPD in hair colour
* Certain medications, including chemotherapy drugs.
* Pregnancy hormones.
* Sun exposure
* Hormonal influences
* Endocrine diseases, such as Addison's disease.
* Melasma.
* Insulin resistance.
* Skin irritation or trauma.
I have under-eye dark circles and it’s over my eye lids as well.. What do I do? My mom also has it.
Dark circles under the eyes are usually caused when you are tired and from lack of sleep. Don’t worry usually it is not a sign of a medical problem. Sometimes home remedies may be all you need to help manage this condition for visible relief and results use The Under-Eye Gel during the day and The Under-Eye Cream at night to repair, soothe and relax your eyes.
Also get your B12 levels checked if they are low, you are more likely to have iron deficiency, which leads to dark circles.
Avoid being on your mobile phone and computer for too long.. both can tire your eyes.
Alcohol and caffeine cause dehydration, making dark circles more obvious.
If you have puffy eyes when you sleep elevate your head with two or more pillows to prevent puffiness that develops when fluid pools in your lower eyelids.
Salt can also cause you to retain excess body fluid, causing puffy skin and under-eye bags.
If this is hereditary, start paying attention at a younger age and include under eye products to fight off issues that could target you at a later stage.. if it is an unavoidable condition then learn to use concealers.
My skin tone is very uneven.. it’s patchy and other than using a concealer I don’t know what else I can do.
Uneven skin tone is caused by uneven distribution of pigments, it can also be caused by extreme sun exposure and hormonal changes. if you do not exfoliate your skin properly, you can develop uneven skin tone because of the excessive buildup of dead skin cells. The gold and saffron scrub and pack is gentle on the skin..You can use the gold and saffron products and vitamin C serum to even your skin tone.
I used to have pimples and acne .. now I have dark spots and marks left behind. What should I use?
You can learn to make your own 20% vitamin C serum.. it’s easy to make and clears your skin of dark spots and marks as well as a tan. If you find it tedious to make your own serum buy the ready to use serum. Include the gold and saffron range in your daily skin care regimen for clear blemish free skin.
I don’t know what my skin type is.
Skin falls under one of these categories- normal, oily, dry, combination and sensitive skin. Your skin texture and type can change as it is affected by a lot of outside factors as well such as the weather, your lifestyle, hormonal changes and your diet. The ideal way to understand your skin type is to wash it gently and leave it overnight without using any product to observe your skin the next morning. Use a face blotting paper or tissue and wipe the t-zone , c-zone and o-zone separately. If parts leave an oily smear and the rest don’t you have combination skin.. if your sheet is oily all over you obviously have oily skin, if not it’s dry and if you are prone to redness and itching when you go out in the sun or after using certain products you have sensitive skin. Normal skin is what children have and you are lucky if you fall under this category.
I'm confused.. in winters I need to use a moisturiser. In summer if I use my cream I sweat so I don’t moisturise in the hot months . Is this okay ?
You should moisturize your face daily after cleansing. Both morning and night. Your skin needs to be moisturised throughout the year to keep your skin hydrated.
In winters use your creams, the gold and saffron cream / [hyaluronic acid cream (30+)]and during summer use your moisturising gels.. gold and saffron gel/ aqua power/ [hyaluronic acid gel (30+)].
When the weather is changing one is normally confused.. use your gel during the day and your cream at night. Just remember to moisturise everyday twice to keep skin looking and feeling radiant and hydrated.
My skin is super sensitive and nothing suits me.. other than medicated products. I want to stop using these.
you need to choose products that are more herbal in nature that are not harsh and might have irritating substances. Always opt for products that suit your skin. When in doubt do a patch test behind your ear and check for redness or irritation.
It’s not a problem to use products that your dermatologist has recommended for you.
I have blackheads on my nose and whiteheads all over my face.. what do I do?
I suggest you keep your skin very clean.. use a deep cleansing face wash morning and night… gold and saffron cleanser/ lime cleanser
Use the gold and saffron face scrub to exfoliate and the face pack thereafter to close the open pores. Black heads are a collection of oil that your skin secrets through the pores in your skin and the dust and dirt in the atmosphere sticks to the oil and hardens if not cleaned out properly. If you try to squeeze it out with your fingers it could get affected with the dirt on your hands and will turn into an acne. Acne is the most common skin problem. It can be caused by excess sebum oil, clogged pores, hormonal changes, medication or lifestyle and diet changes.
White heads are not open pores they are a collection of oil just under your skin. So don’t try to poke a hole and force it out, you will creat an open pore. You have to massage the oil back into your body. Use a tongue cleaner and gently polish your skin. Your surface back heads will go so will the white heads.
I have never really looked after my skin because I didn’t have any issues before but I am 45 now and my skin is already sagging and I can see fine lines and the beginning of wrinkles around my eyes, forehead and around my mouth.. how do I prevent this?
Aging is a natural process.. your skin will lose its elasticity, hyaluronic acid content and collagen over time and it will start appearing saggy with fine lines and wrinkles. If you followed a proper skincare regimen when you were younger it would have helped.. you need to take care of your skin by using anti aging products and keeping your skin hydrated. It’s never too late to start. Use the hyaluronic acid gel and while skin is still moist use the hyaluronic acid cream, both are anti aging products.
My hair is rough, frizzy and I have a lot of split ends.. I smoothen my hair once in 6 months to keep it in control and I love long hair so I get a cut twice a year.
The characteristics of frizzy hair is to be dry and rough.. it also tends to split at the ends and a trim once in two months is a must to avoid split ends. This can happen also due to excessive heat styling, over-processing, chemical treatments etc. With split ends your hair will split from the tips all the way to the roots.. your hair will have tremendous breakage.
Your primary objective should be to prevent hair breakage. Use the right products for frizzy hair like the anti frizz shampoo, intense hair conditioner and hair repair serum to avoid tangling of your hair and avoid heat styling whenever possible, and don’t pull or stretch wet hair which is more prone to damage and keep hair conditioned for better elasticity. So the intense hair conditioner is a must with every shampoo also use hair repair serum on towel dried hair on the shaft of the hair to the tips to avoid the rough and dry ends and to keep your hair tangle free and smooth.
My hair doesn’t grow at all.. it falls too. I m fed up! What do I do?
Everyone's hair grows at different paces .. yours must be very slow growth due to hormonal changes and genetic factors passed onto you.
There are also usually both internal and external factors that impact normal hair growth, if you are on strong medication or have low iron or vitamin D levels.. you should get all your test done and see what is wrong .. stress is a huge factor too.
How often should I oil my hair? Can you explain step by step on how to do a proper oil massage? Can I use the same hair oil for my children under 10?
A good oil massage once or twice a week invigorates the roots and encourages hair growth and stops hair fall. After the oil massage shampoo and condition your hair.
1. The 21 herb hair oil can be used at room temperature or heated to lukewarm, do not bring the oil to a boil.
2. Massage with your fingertips into your scalp skin and spread evenly. Oil the rest of your hair all the way from roots to the hair ends.
3. Dip a thin towel in boiling hot water. Squeeze out excess water and wrap the towel around your head to steam your scalp. This opens the pores for easy absorption of the oil. Repeat 2 - 3 times.
4. Leave the oil on for an hour and wash it off with shampoo.
5. Remember to shampoo your hair twice to remove all traces of oil.
6. Leaving oil on your scalp and hair can lead to accumulation of dirt, and eventually lead to oily dandruff.
7. Use regularly twice a week for 6-8 weeks to see visible results
8. Incorporate hot oil massages into your hair care regime.
9. Do not leave oil on overnight.
10. Do not oil after shampooing your hair. Oil massages are to be done before your shampoo.
For children they only need pure coconut oil not oils packed with herbs etc to stop hair fall or encourage hair growth they simply don’t need it.
When I use professional hair colour I have a bad reaction.. my scalp itches and I have swelling around my eyes.. I have a lot of grey so I take an anti allergic tablet and get my colour done.. I think I m doing more harm than good.
Yes you are.. it’s time for you to step away from chemical based hair colourants and switch over to the 100% natural henna and indigo hair colour. In the long run you will stay safe and healthy.
I have switched to the Henna Indigo hair colour because I want to stay away from chemicals.. but my roots don’t catch the colour fast and tends to fade. Is there anything I can do so that the colour catches and lasts?
The henna indigo colour is 100% natural.. apply it on absolutely clean scalp and hair.. there should be no traces of oil or leave in conditioner etc. Add half teaspoon of regular salt in the mix it helps the indigo to release its colour. Cover with a shower cap and leave on for 2 hours.. rinse out completely, leave no traces behind let the water run clear. You can condition the hair and rinse out again.. shampoo and condition after 48 hours. Once the product catches and holds you ll need to do your next application only when the roots show.. then do a roots touch up.
I'm on a diet, I've lost weight and with it my hairs gone too. Will it grow back?
A good balanced diet with proteins, vitamins, amino acids, iron rich foods, biotin, etc is important as it prevents imbalances in your body that could lead to hairfall these nutrients improves blood circulation, and carries oxygen to your scalp, and a healthy scalp means healthy well-nourished hair.
Crash dieting deprives your body and hair of these essential nutrients and causes hairfall.
When you start eating right, exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle you roots will get stronger And your hair will grow back.
I want to smoothen my hair but I've been warned time and time again .. my hair is very curly and I look unruly. I need a more professional look.
Chemical treatments should only be done by very experienced hairdressers.. because if one doesn't follow the correct procedures, it can lead to hair breakage, hair fall and even in some cases hair burning.
If your hair is curly please understand that the re growth will be in contrast to your straightened hair. You will be caught in a never ending circle of needing to chemically treat your hair every 6 months to keep it looking decent. Best option is to learn to handle your natural curls and style it in a professional manner for work and try to stay chemical free but use styling products to control the curls.
I want to know the right way to shampoo and condition my hair.. I shampoo my hair once a week but haven’t started using conditioner as yet is it necessary to condition my hair?
Remember your shampoo is a cleansing agent if used in excess it could strips away the moisture from your hair which will result in dry and rough hair that could knot up faster leading to hair breakage. The AP shampoos and conditioners are herbal and mild.
You should condition your hair every single time you shampoo your hair. Conditioner restores the moisture and leaves your hair smooth and tangle free.
Shampoo and condition your hair twice maximum 3 times a week.
Your shampooing should be done in 2 stages .. wet your hair and massage the shampoo into the scalp concentrate on cleansing out your scalp first.. give it a complete rinse out. Stage 2 take half the amount of shampoo you took the first time and dilute it with a palm full of water and lather up and this time concentrate from roots to tips of your hair.. this time the lather will be double with less shampoo. Rinse out completely and then apply conditioner only on the hair shafts not on the scalp or roots but all throughout the hair all the way to the tips. Leave conditioner on for 3/5 minutes and throughly rinse out.
Can I use the hair repair serum on dry hair?
The hair repair serum is best used on clean towel dried hair.. no harm in using it on dry hair if you need to smoothen out frizz.
What are the essential rules to keep in mind for strong healthy hair?
1. A trim once a month for shorter hair styles to keep the style in place and for longer hair once in 2 months to get rid of split and unhealthy tips.
2. Use the shampoo and conditioner that’s meant for your hair texture, always use the right products to keep your hair healthy. The wild rose shampoo and conditioners for normal to gently curly hair and the anti frizz shampoo and intense hair conditioner for frizzy and dry hair.
3. A hot oil massage with the 21 herb hair oil is a must to nourish the roots for good and strong hair growth, and to prevent hair loss.
4. Never wash your hair with only plain water and think you are cleaning your scalp and hair.. water only cleanses the system within when you drink it when used outside of your body it needs to be added to a cleansing agent to wash and clean the dirt away. It’s definitely cooling and makes you feel fresh but in earnest what it’s doing is it shifts the natural oils away from the scalp and in turn upsets the oil balance on your scalp.. this leads to a dry scalp that immediately creates dandruff.. the upset oil balance leads to excess production of oil, this mixed with the dandruff leads to oily dandruff.
